Nuremberg is a city in the district of Middle Franconia. It is the second largest city in Bavaria after Munich. Nuremberg's Old Town is testimony to the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period, reconstruction and modernity. The gate tower Spittlertor is one of the four distinctive, round main towers of the Nuremberg city fortification. The gate was already occupied in 1377 as part of the last city wall and replaced the gate tower of the penultimate wall, the White Tower.
