Olympia, Washington is located on the southernmost point of Puget Sound. It is the capitol of Washington state and features magnificent views of Mount Rainier and nearby Tumwater Falls. Situated on Budd Inlet, it is also a boating capitol.
The first Europeans to chart the area were the Vancouver Expedition in 1792. In 1833, the Hudson Bay Company established Fort Nisqually near present day DuPont, Washington.
