It is easy to sleep in and still arise for the early morning light of sunrise when winter camping in the depths of the Grand Canyon. This panorama was taken at "sunrise" at about 8:00 a.m. in mid-February. Sunlight comes late to the bottom of the canyon.
At Palisades Creek the main Colorado River canyon opens up and expansive views are in sight. Hikers and boaters can see up to 3 miles to the rim on the east while to the west views of the north rim are 8 - 10 miles distant.
