Peat hill, Stenness, Orkney
Scotland

The hill is known locally as the peat hill because it was where all the fuel for the parish was collected.

For this picture I was looking for  a cairn which is marked on the Ordnance Survey map. I don't think this is the correct place but it was the only stones I could find nearby. This spot is where the sun appears to rise on the shortest day when looked at from the Ring of Brodgar. Whether the cairn is significant in that or not remains to be researched, but it is not possible to know for sure.
