Breakwater at Portland's deep sea port
Victoria

Portland with a population of approx. 12,000 is a major deep-sea port on Victoria's south-west coast, 360 kilometres west of Melbourne. Portland is an exporting centre for produce and its economy is supported by an aluminium smelter, fertiliser and fishing industry and woolstores.
