Princesshay, Exeter
England

Princesshay is a recent city-centre redevelopment in Exeter. Completed in 2007, it replaced a somewhat dilapidated shopping arcade built on a post-war bomb site by the town planner Thomas Sharp.

Princesshay comprehensively ticks the checklist of requirements for a contemporary city-centre urban regeneration project; mixed land use comprising shops, resturants and apartments and plenty of public space. The planners were careful to open up views of the Cathedral and various Roman remains. The development is complete with the obligatory public art pieces and a particularly well-designed multistorey car park.
