Salisbury Cathedral, more formally titled the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was built in just 38 years between 1220 and 1258. The famous spire, the tallest in Great Britain, was added in 1310, taking a further 20 years to complete.
The Early English Gothic structure is also home to the best preserved original copy of the Magna Carta and the world's oldest working clock.
