Combeima Canyon is located on the eastern side of the Cordillera Central between 1400 and 4200 m . The journey to the canyon is 18 km , starting from the Plaza de Bolivar, in the center of Ibague, to the village of Juntas , along the banks of the river Combeima .
The latter has about 50 waterfalls and other smaller sources in the narrow valleys and steep banks up to 90 degrees, that expose large rock walls having pure Canyon , presenting a wonderful landscape tourist region . Influenced by the borders of the Natural Nevados National Park and the high Andean forests that remain , the Canyon is considered a strategic ecosystem of the city.
The Rio Combeima has its birth in the Nevado del Tolima volcano is located in the Central Andes of Colombia in the city of Ibague , Tolima
The snow today has an ice cap with an area of 2.3 km2 and a volume of 69 million cubic meters. The main access to the volcano is done starting from Ibague city to the area of El Silencio , passing through the villages of Restrepo, pastures and Seals . Thereafter several roads leading to the top is off . It is considered by the Volcanological Observatory of Manizales as an "active volcano stable behavior
