The Røldal Stave Church (built in 1250) stands in the municipality of Odda in Hordaland county. In the 13th Century the church was one of the most famous pilgrimage churches in Norway. Particularly to Sankt Hans many pilgrims visited Røldal. On this day, the crucifix began to sweat and triggered a healing effect. Today we know that the sweating was triggered by the breath of the visitors (high humidity).
