This is the Royal Oak Memorial in St. Magnus Cathedral. It commemroates the 833 souls lost when U47 managed to infiltrate Scapa Flow and sink the Royal Oak.

St. Magnus cathedral itself is a Viking cathedral. Construction began in 1137. The completion date is more complicated. it has been altered in many ways both large and small over the years.
