Sigma-Aldrich in the U.S. invested several hundred million dollars and established the SAFC Hitech Taiwan Co., Ltd. in the Kaohsiung Science Park. The new branch in Kaohsiung completed construction on March 15, 2012. It’s ready to launch the first production lines of LED and semiconductor industry, with the scope of services covers the entire Asian market. Kaohsiung welcomes all international companies to set the offices in the Kaohsiung Science Park in order to help the low-carbon green industries deep root and grow in southern Taiwan. Thus, Kaohsiung could be promoted as the base camp of international industries that would be helpful for the integration of the semiconductor industry and clustering effect of the optoelectronics industry. The city government and local industries are actively adjusting the industrial structure, in order to develop autonomous economy and continue towards the direction of high-tech, high value-added, and industrial transition in low pollution.
