Saint Finnbarr's Church , Isle Of Barra
Scotland

Saint Finnbarr's Church can be found on the eastern side of Ben Eoligarry and about 1 mile north of Barra airport . It is thought the first chapel to be built here was around the 6th century and the present buildings and remains around the year 1100 .

This photo is of the interior of the north chapel which houses a replica of a viking gravestone (the Kilbar Stone) dating back to the 9th century .

The surrounding burial grounds are home to the author Sir Compton McKenzie who is famous for writing "Whisky Galore" which was based on a true story that occurred on the nearby island of Eriskay . The book was later made into a movie in 1949 .
