Along the edges of the Great Salt Lake in Utah, mineral extraction companies capture water from the lake in large solar evaporation ponds. On a calm day, the shallow ponds mirror the surrounding land and sky. In this image, the water reflects the Oquirrh Mountains, newly white with spring snow. Also visible are the Stansbury Mountains to the southwest, the Cedar and Lakeside ranges to the west, Stansbury Island to the northeast, and portions of Antelope Island to the east.
