Peneda-Gerês National Park, Sanctuary , Nossa Senhora da Peneda,
Portugal

The church was started at the end of the 18th century and was completed in 1875. In front of the church is the staircase of virtues, with statues representing Faith, Hope, Charity and Glory, dated 1854, the master's work Francisco Luis Barreiros. After a triangular square where the pilgrims' old dormitories are located (now transformed into a hotel), the sanctuary develops on a 300-meter tree-lined staircase and 20 chapels with scenes from the life of Christ (Nativity and Passion). One of the chapels has an inscription stating that it was offered by the Negus of Ethiopia. At the back of the mall, a circular square, stands a pillar offered by Queen Maria I of Portugal. In the first week of September, a large popular camp is held at the sanctuary.
