The watchtower, built in 1492, dominates the ridge of the Binselberg mountain between the districts of Radheim and Mosbach and the main town of Schaafheim. The tower was part of the Kurmainzer Landwehr, which made it possible to collect customs duties, especially during the Frankfurt trade fair. Originally, the watch tower could only be climbed using a rope ladder. In the meantime, an entrance has been broken into the thick wall so that it is accessible at all times.

The “Free State of Bavaria” is renowned for being culturally unique and for the emphasis which it places on preserving its heritage and traditions. It is also extraordinarily beautiful, boasting a plethora of castles, palaces, cathedrals, abbeys and monasteries not to mention spectacular scenery. Bavaria is more than Alps, men in “lederhosen” (leather pants), women in “dirndl” (traditional dresses) and frothy glasses of beer by the “maβ” (liter).
