This image shows the western end of the sea front at Sidmouth. A narrow walkway underneath the red sandstone cliffs leads to Jacob's Ladder beach.

The image shows a number of coastal protection methods designed to reduce erosion of the foreshore and possible loss of the cliff-top properties. Looking east, it is possible to make out the recovery vessels salvaging the remains of the MSC Napoli - more information.
