St Paulus Well Tarsus Vr Mersin 205
Turkey
St Paulus is assumed to have lived in the place where St. Paulus Well is located in modern downtown Tarsus district, Mersin. Apart from remains of civil architecture from the 1st century AD, when St. Paulus lived, other findings relating the Roman, Byzantine Seljuk and Ottoman Periods have been revealed in the excavations conducted in the site. These excavations also showed that the water well and some additional elements of the well had undergone renovations. Local people believe that this well have “healing water”. Before arriving in Jerusalem for pilgrimage, Christians visit Tarsus and drink the sacred and healing water of St. Paulus Well.
