Sugarloaf Reservoir
Victoria

Christmas Hills is a small town with a population of approx 500 only, 35 kilometres north east from Melbourne. The area owes its name David Christmas, who became lost in 1842 and found after days of wandering at a rise which was named to him.

In the late 1970s construction of the 96,000 megalitre Sugarloaf reservoir commenced, it was completed in 1981 and is part of Melbourne's water supply scheme. The main dam is 89m high and just over 1 kilometre long.

Around the reservoir is Sugarloaf Reservoir Park for picnic areas, fishing spots, sailing and walking.
