Tas Kopru Stone Bridge Silifke Vr Mersin 216
Turkey
It is by the Göksu (Kalykadnos) River that crosses downtown Silifke District, Mersin. It was understood from a stone epitaph revealed during the repair works performed in 1870 that the bridge was built in 77-78 AD during the rule of the Cilician Governor L. Octavius Memor in the name of the Emperor of the period, Vespasianus, and his two sons, Titus and Domitianus. Taş Köprü, which has seven arches and stands as a beautiful example of Roman Period works, was repaired during the Ottoman and Turkish Republic periods.
