Temple in Monkey Forest, Ubud, Bali

The Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud, central Bali, is a nature reserve as well as a sacred Balinese Hindu site and temple complex. A few hundred Balinese long-tailed macaques inhabit this small forest, they are believed to be God's guards of this temple, called Pura Dalem Agung Pedangtegal - the Great Temple of Death.

We visited the forest in the early morning hours to avoid the crowds that are now visiting the forest on a daily basis. Unfortunately the sky was not very clear but it added to the special atmosphere of this very special place.
