There are good train connections between Chur and St. Moritz on the Albula line and an S-Bahn to Chur. There is also a large bus stop in front of the station. Thusis is an important junction in Grisons.

Thusis lies at the northern entrance to the spectacular Viamala gorge on the Hinterrhein River. The town in the canton of Graubunden, Switzerland is the starting point of the Albula Railway, many passing roads and excursions to the Heinzerberg and Domleschg area with their many castles.

Thusis had to be partially rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1845. The buildings, constructed in an elegant style influenced by neighboring Italy, testify to the wealth and self-confidence of the time. Because, until the opening of the Gotthard Railway in 1882 and the completion of the Albula Railway in 1903, Thusis was an important station for transporting goods and passengers from southern Germany to Italy by carts and horse-drawn carriages.

The Viamala Gorge, 4 km south of Thusis, is the largest and most impressive gorge in the Canton of Graubunden.

Thusis fica na entrada norte do espetacular desfiladeiro de Viamala, no rio Hinterrhein. A cidade no cantão de Graubunden, Suíça é o ponto de partida da Albula Railway, muitas estradas de passagem e excursões para a área de Heinzerberg e Domleschg com os seus muitos castelos.

Thusis teve de ser parcialmente reconstruída após um incêndio devastador em 1845. Os edifícios, construídos num estilo elegante influenciado pela vizinha Itália, testemunham a riqueza e a autoconfiança da época. Porque, até à abertura da Ferrovia Gotthard em 1882 e à conclusão da Ferrovia Albula em 1903, Thusis foi uma importante estação para transporte de mercadorias e passageiros do sul da Alemanha para Itália em carroças e carros puxados por cavalos.

O Desfiladeiro Viamala, a 4 km a sul de Thusis, é o maior e mais impressionante desfiladeiro do Cantão dos Graubunden.
