Villanueva del Rio
Northern Spain

The town of Villanueva del Río was submerged under the waters of the Aguilar´s reservoir when it got into operation in 1964.

With it also disappeared one of its most representative access routes such as the medieval bridge built between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.

When the reservoir level goes down you can see the massive solidity of its construction that has stood alternate periods of flooding and drought with minimal deterioration.
