A 150' aerial view overlooking downtown Virginia City, Nevada. It was founded in 1859 following the discovery of the silver Comstock Lode under Mount Davidson (where the "V" landmark letter is). Mining continued until 1878 & the town had nearly 25,000 people at its peak. Much underground mining continued until around the 1920s. Mark Twain, a prominent author and writer, lived for a time in the town. As of 2020 the population is now 787 however it is still a major tourist attraction in the Reno/Carson City area.
