Growing vine near Merzhausen
Baden-Wuerttemberg

Growing, making and drinking wine is a vital part of the regional culture.

In this early state the plants have been cut and tied to the wires in order to sustain the heavy grapes that will grow throughout the summer. The winery located in the Jesuitenschlössle just up the hill behind the trees.

The Jesuitenschlössle is a manor house ('schlössle' means 'small castle') built by the Society of Jesus in 1666 and now owned by a foundation. It contains not only the winery but also a restaurant.

The chapel is a Schönstatt shrine.
