White Chief Cirque, Mineral King, Sequoia National Park
California
Glacial lateral moraine at the base of White Chief Cirque was created by ancient glaciers exposing limestone/marble formations. Water has carved subterranean waterways in the stone creating a network of underground passageways and caverns. The area has many entrances and sink holes, the creek disappears underground nearby and re-emerges about a 500 meters away as a waterfall.
