Winter on Taft Point, Yosemite National Park, California
California
Taft Point is in a remote part of crowded Yosemite Valley. At 7,500 feet About a thousand feet above Yosemite Valley and across from the rock face of El Capitan is Taft Point. The point is named after the 27th president William Howard Taft sometime after his visit with John Muir in 1909. Our 11 mile route started in the winter at the ski resort of Badger Pass, we traveled east on the Glacier Point Road, NW to Pohono trail via ski trail then west to Taft Point. Getting there after dark, GPS coordinates helped me find the our camp.
