Do yourself a favor and visit this place when you stay in San Ignacio Town, Cayo District, Belize. Many newly arriving visitors choose to visit this site first since it's only takes up a half day. So they settle in their rooms and set off to Xunantunich. It's an easy half day self guided tour and the ruins are a 10 minute taxi ride from town.  The largest temple is the second highest pyramid in Belize at 132 ft and comes with a breathe taking view into the Guatemala. It's only short of the tallest pyramid by a few feet. The entrance fee is $10.00 BZD or $5.00 USD for an entrance fee and you can get a guide if you want.
