End of the zip line at Labadee, Haiti in the Caribbean. Yes the zip line starts across the bay on the top of the mountain at the other side! The zip line starts at 500 feet above sea leavel and travels approximatly 2600 feet down to this end. There are 5 different lines that have different levels of drag set based on the weight of the riders. Before riding the zip line, riders are taught several differnt postions used on the lines. The positions are based on the amount of drag that they create.
When I rode the line, I was on the 5th line and used a postion that created the most drag. There was a 6th line that had markers on it. One of the markers was half way down the line. I was told to do the "starfish" position until I reached the halfway point in the line. The "Starfish" position created the most drag making sure that I didn't gain to much speed as I decending the Zip line. Near the end I still was able to touch the waves with my feet. I kept my feet up like I was water skiing.
I really enjoyed riding the zip line at Labadee, Haiti.
