Alligator in Rio de Janeiro
Rio de Janeiro

The alligator-of-crop-yellow (Caiman latirostris) is a typical alligator of South America. The species inhabits the tropical forests, preferring slope areas, with their ponds, lakes and rivers. About 200 alligators live in the canals and lagoons of the fast-growing Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood. The buildings had been approaching and now inhabitants are close to the animals. In the urban environment they eat rats, cats and dogs. They adapted themselves to the pollution of organic material in the canals.
