Alto Douro Wine Region, Quinta do Crasto, Casa, Sabrosa, Vila Real
Portugal

With a privileged location in the Douro Demarcated Region, in the North of Portugal, Quinta do Crasto has been owned by the family of Leonor and Jorge Roquette for over a century. Just like the great Quintas do Douro, the origin of Quinta do Crasto goes back to far times in the country's history: the name Crasto derives from the Latin castrum and means “Roman fort”.

Anyone who visits the farm today sees an idyllic promontory overlooking the Douro River, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, upon their arrival at this well-kept wine estate, in which the old Quinta do Crasto houses stand out and where includes Casa Centenária, home of the owners. The visible signs of modernity that today characterize Quinta do Crasto, both in wine and tourism activities, combine perfectly with the concern to preserve its historic heritage, both built and natural. The current owners are aware of the value of this very rich heritage, as a memory and as a resource, which translates, for those who visit the farm, into a feeling of timelessness and communion with nature.
