Anchorage International Airport Interior 2
Alaska

Serving over 5 million passengers a year, The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is the largest in Alaska which is impressive for a state that has a population estimated at 700,000 people. The airport reports over 100,000 landings per year.

First opened in 1953, the airport and terminal buildings have undergone a series of upgrades and renovations. The panorama shows the main lobby of the baggage claim area on level one of the South Terminal which was renovated in 1999. Check-in counters, security and gates are up one level while parking, car rental and a railroad depot are on the lower level. An Alaska native art collection and the Alaska Sports hall of fame also can be found on the lower level. Stepping outside the terminal building, travelers can enjoy a sweeping view of the Chugach Mountains that border the city to the east.

The banner celebrates 50 years of Alaska becoming a State of the United States of America.
