Bayanzag - MONGOLIA
Mongolia

Bayanzag, which means "rich in saxaul shrubs" (large trees, with a grayish white trunk), is more commonly known as the Flaming Cliffs, a name given by paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews. The first excavation, in 1922,  is renowned worldwide for the number of dinosaur bones and eggs found in the area, which are now preserved in museums around the world.

The Bayanzag area, in the southern province of Omnogov, is part of the Gobi desert.
