Russia

Shapsug reservoir - built in 1952 to regulate the flood flow of the Afips river,

The reservoir is located in the left-bank floodplain of the Kuban River, in the estuary of the Afips River.

The area of the reservoir is 46 square meters. km, length 9 km, width 8 km, average depth 3.5 m.

The reservoir regulates the winter floods of the Afips River, and also protects the lower reaches of the river. Kuban (from which it is separated by a narrow braid) from floods.

In 2002, water was drained from the reservoir, and in 2007, reconstruction of the Shapsug reservoir began. In 2019, when this photo was taken, the reconstruction was not completed and the reservoir is still without water.
