With the reddish and grayish stone walls covered with green vines, a row of old urns are displayed at the corner of the Cigarette Plant and Pottery Art by the door, showing a sense of vicissitudes of the times. This is the first impression most visitors experienced when they first saw the exterior of Cigarette Plant and Pottery Art. The owner of the plant, Zhong Jian-zhi, renovated the old Cigarette Plant and rebuilt it as a gallery for pottery art in 1998. Besides producing and storing ceramic works, the plant is also open for visitors to learn to create their own pottery and enjoy Hakka ground tea. It is indeed a good destination for tourists to experience the Meinung’s Hakka cultural characteristics.
