從來迎觀音下的法輪橋開始，順著臨溪朝山步道拾步往上行走，首先映入眼簾的就是聖嚴師父親題的「聽溪」、「賞水」兩塊巨石，耳朵傳來的盡是潺潺作響的溪水聲，這就是法鼓山的「龍溪」。因法鼓山的山脈走勢就像是一條龍，兩旁有雙溪並流，就像是「龍戲雙溪」，因此會合雙溪的水就叫龍溪。溪水緩緩流向金山平原，孕育金山豐富的農村文化。
