The Semáforo de Bares is located in the north of Galicia, located in the Rías Altas, in the so-called Comarca del Ortegal, possibly one of the most virgin coastal areas of the Iberian Peninsula, we are also in a spectacular setting that surrounds the surroundings of the Hotel. Located in the parish of Santa María de Bares of the Concello de Mañón. It is an old military construction built in the twenties of the 19th century, whose function was communication with the ships through signals with flags, a military observation post and a meteorological center. A building that only worked during the day, I never found foggy days or at night as it was only with maritime flags that could be seen about eight kilometers from the sea. It is located very close to the Cape and the Estaca de Bares Lighthouse at an elevation greater than 210m. above sea level just at the entrance of the ría do Barqueiro. It was in use until the end of the 1960s. Later and at the end of 1990 and the beginning of the current century it was rehabilitated, becoming a charming Nature Hotel where stone is combined with wood in all the rooms of the Hotel and living nature in all its surroundings and as far as the eye can see. The Hotel was inaugurated on August 15, 2002.
