The street (Botnanger Straße) goes here in serpentines from the ground of the Stuttgart basin to the Botnanger Sattel, which is a pass to the next valley. The train on the picture is on the Gaeubahn which goes from Stuttgart to Singen and Zurich. The line goes up at the rim of the basin an has here won more than 100 meters from the main station.
