The Gaoping River Cable-Stayed Bridge is a part of the National Highway No.3 laid across Gaoping River and is an important bridge connecting Kaohsiung and Pingtung with a length of 2617 meters. The construction of the bridge was finished and launched in 1999. It is the first hybrid cable-stayed bridge in Taiwan that sustains a road surface height of 40 meters. The A-shaped tower of the bridge, connected with red cable, is of 183.5 meters high that is equivalent to the height of a 60 stories building. The span of bridge is the second longest in the World (after the Rhine Bridge in Germany), and the longest in the Southeast Asia. It is the classic of modern design that looks beautiful and elegant with lighting at night.
