The mainstation was built from Paul Bonatz and Friedrich E. Scholer in the year 1912 to 1922. The mainstation is terminal station with 17 tracks, with an subterrestrical station for the rapid-transit railway.

The tower which is 56 meters high, is today a landmark of Stuttgart.
