Mănăstirea Frumoasa in Moldova. 'Frumoasa' means 'beautiful' in the Romanian language. Located near the Ikel river 14 km. from the town of Calarasi, Moldova. This monastery began in 1804 with a widower who had several monks join him. The first church was a wooden hermitage with a later stone church. Frumoasa Monastery is one of four “Calarasi Cross” monasteries, along with, Hirjeuca, and Raciula. The monasteries are situated so that the shape of a cross is formed.
