Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone is 40 km southwest of Sanya. Nanshan is recognized as an important site in the history of Buddhism. Monk Jianzhen of Tang Dynasty (618 -907 AD) intended to go Japan to promote Buddhism for five times but all fails due to different reasons. Then he tried again, but this time he was drifted to Nanshan by the sea storm. So he stayed here, and built temples and wide-spread Buddhism. One and a half year later, he left for Japan and finally got there, accomplished his mission.
Strelitziaceae：
family of flowering plants in the ginger order (Zingiberales) that range in size from perennial herbs to trees. The family includes three genera (Ravenala, Phenakospermum, and Strelitzia) and seven species.
