Taken from a rock cliff on the top of the Vishnu Schist overlooking our party's boats at Lower Bass Camp, a place that was the actual surface of the Earth at least 210 million years ago, if not 1.2 billion years ago. Just before shooting this image, I had spotted a Chuckwalla lizard, a huge North American iguana. I was hoping that he would be caught by the camera when he came back out. This was the first stop on our morning hike from camp on our layover day at Lower Bass Camp.
