Milano - San Gioachimo Square
Milan

The church was built in 1881-85 in honour of Vincenzo Goacchino Pecci (Pope Leon XIII). Its cruciform layout, topped by a cupola with octagonal cupola base, is evocative of Albertine and Bramantesque architecture. More eclectic and forced than the nineteenth century style is the renaissance style of Pastro, who restored the decor (1929-31) and the glasswork (1930-36).
