Shirin Art Gallery Jan 2024 Saghar Hamzehlou Sleepwalker 02
The World

نمایشگاه انفرادی نقاشی و مجسمه " ساغر حمزه لو" با عنوان " خوابگرد " بهمن 1402 گالری شیرین

Saghar Hamzehlou was born in 1990 in Tehran. She got her master degree in Bachelor of Painting from Tehran Art University.

“Sleepwalker” is her third solo exhibition at Shirin Gallery.

In this collection, She goes beyond the two-dimensional space, transforming her paintings into painted sculptures. Saghar feels that for the growth and evolution of this collection, She must bring the original text of her paintings out of the frame and transform them into a different form.

“Sleepwalker” is displayed in both natural and blacklight, and perhaps the artist’s most explicit main goal in presenting this collection in these two lights is to symbolize night and day and the hidden secrets that emerge after dusk and dawn.

In this collection, the artist has successfully turned illusion into reality and vice versa, creating works that embody a paradoxical nature.

According to Saghar:

I’ve never been good at writing; if I were, maybe I wouldn’t have become a painter. Often, when I try to write, I either fail to convey the meaning, or get stuck in my own thoughts... or I write so clear it’s kinda boring for the reader. So, I’ll keep it briefly, and in the end, I’ll add a paragraph from my favorite writer, Steve Toltz, who totally vibes with what I’m doing and has a significant connection to this series.

Sleepwalker, born from two years of wandering around and wrestling with the life’s abstract ideas —a clash of opposites : sadness and joy, hope and despair, coming and going, dreaming and waking, death and life, and a bunch of other mixed feelings we’ve all been through from childhood to now. No need of fancy names, you get it.

* Part of the book A Fraction of the whole

You never hear about a sportsman losing his sense of smell in a tragic accident, and for good reason; in order for the universe to teach excruciating lessons that we are unable to apply in later life, the sportsman must lose his legs, the philosopher his mind, the painter his eyes, the musician his ears, the chef his tongue. My lesson? ...

More About The World

Welcome to Earth! It's a planet having an iron core, with two-thirds of its surface covered by water. Earth orbits a local star called the Sun, the light of which generates the food supply for all the millions of species of life on earth. The dominant species on Earth is the human being, and you're one of the six billion of them! Humans have iron in their blood, and their bodies are composed of two-thirds water, just like the planet they live on. The physical composition of the Earth, its people and everything on it contains an electro-magnetic field which is not yet fully understood. Theories and legends about the origin of Earth, people and life itself abound, however they are not commonly discussed. The bulk of earth's people spend their time immersed in daily activities, leaving the big questions for later. "Who are we? Where did we come from? Where are we going? How will we get there?" Many religions and philosophies have attempted to answer these questions over the years, but so far none has given an answer that everyone on the planet can accept. In contrast to all the disagreement, the similarities among people on earth are far, far greater than any differences. Welcome again to Earth! Enjoy your stay, and try to stay calm.
