Bullet Lake is located on the eastern side of the Sawtooth National Wilderness Area, Custer County, Idaho, USA. The lake sits at 8,715 feet (2,656m) above sea-level and is a 6.5 mile (10.5km) hike from the nearest 4-wheel drive road running up Hell Roaring Canyon. The entire hike is on a well maintained hiking trail except for the last mile and a half. The total elevation change of the hike is 1,495 feet (456m).
This image was taken on October 28, 2011 from the lake's western shoreline. Bullet Lake is approximately 700 feet (213m) long and 850 feet (259m) wide and has a shoreline distance of about 0.54 miles (0.87km). A lone fisherman can be seen on the north lake shore. 10,211 foot (3112m) Payette Peak can be seen a little north of west.
The best time for visiting in summer weather is August through October.
