Have you ever wondered how it was to go through gates and walk on the pier two hundred years ago? Visit Tungyi Gate and Tongfu Bridge. Tungyi Gate (Dongbian Gate), formerly known as Siaodong Gate, was one of the six gates of Fongshan City built during the Qing Dynasty. It is also the only ancient city gate left today. This rectangular shaped gate is 10.8 meters wide, 7 meters deep, and about 4.3 meters high. It has a red brick arch, a stone base, and an exterior wall made of Lao-Gu Stone. The Tongfu Bridge located outside the Tungyi Gate has four openings and three Chinese style piers built during the Qing Dynasty. It is the only usable two hundred-year old bridge in Taiwan. Outside the Tungyi Gate, the Tongfu Temple enshrines "Earth God of Bridge."
