The ruins of Fort Wonderboom, built in 1897, as one of the 4 Forts built to defend the capitol city during the Boer War. Famously, none of the 4 forts of Pretoria ever fired their canons in battle.
The Fort was demolished early in the seciond world war, to ensure it would not fall into enemy hands, and be used as a base to attack the city it was built to protect.
