Gunshueiping Mud Volcano, Yanchao
Taiwan

The Gunshueiping Mud Volcano is on the Gunshueiping with an altitude of 30 meters at the boundary between Haifong Village of Ciaotou District and Jiaosu Village of Yanchao District in Kaohsiung City. There is a small hill with an elevation of 2 meters, and on top of the hill is the opening of mud spray with a diameter of 0.5 meters. Gray underground fluid flows out of the mud fumaroles and usually carries fathomless methane. When tested with long bamboo sticks, the sticks are soon all buried, making the volcano appear like a bottomless pit. Due to sunshine over a long period of time, the gray mud that flows out to the ground becomes dry and forms all sorts of strange and unique shapes.
