Main square (Glavni trg) is the central square in Maribor, Slovenia. You can see two of the historically important buildings on this pano: the town hall (Rotovž) – with the bell tower and the casino – second building on the right of the Christmas tree. The third important building is the Aloysius Church (Alojzijeva cerkev), which is located behind the Plague Column. The later is located centrally on the square, set in 1743 as a memory after the cessation of the devastating plague in 17th century, causing the death of one third of the town's population. The first Column was set in 1681, but was later in 1743 replaced with the present one. Parts of the Column were exchanged with replicas during the renovation in 1990 (originals are preserved in the local museum/archive).
