This image was taken September 29, 2011 from the upper North Fork drainage at the base of Mount Regan in the Sawtooth National Wilderness Area, Custer County, Idaho, USA. Mount Regan is directly west and stands 10,190 feet (3,105m) above sea-level.
The elevation at the photo site was about 8,700 feet (2,651m). The tallest peak in the Sawtooth National Wilderness Area is Mount Thompson, which can be seen just below and left of the sun. Mount Thompson stands 10,751 feet (3,276m).
Baron Peak (10,197 feet, 3,108m) can be seen directly below the sun.
There are two small unnamed lakes in the bottom of the valley, both at an elevation of 8,260 feet (2,518m).
